Op Ed (:

Research is a word many don’t like to pursue. It could cause nothing; or just about everything. Living in a political world, with many unknowledgeable people, has caused us to become far from a peaceful nation. Taking the time to get informed, rather than taking the time to believe a rumor is less likely to happen for anyone. It has been stated that you begin to think like those around you, or those you associate yourself with.

In Iraq and in places such as the Middle East this statement is very true. Many families are brought up to have hatred towards the United States, creating detraction from peace. Many Middle Eastern people have joined Taliban’s, and have caused many murders in the name of Allah. Being raised to follow terrorist leaders, because that is all that they know, has caused many problems for not only the United States, but their own country and other countries.

On September 11, 2001 the Taliban attacked on the United States, killing thousands of people. Many of the terrorists were young, and I believe them as being naïve; not fully understanding what they were about to do. In 2011 they created a war amongst themselves, detracting from peace in their own country; with their own people.

Throughout the period of the Iraq and Afghanistan war, many innocent people were killed. Some were killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time; others for trying to defend a problem that they know nothing about. We as people from the United States were quickly informed when the attack took place, and quickly went to the defense of our own people. Although many of us followed the leader, it was in knowing about the situation that was brought upon us, instead of killing for no reason.

If the Middle East took the time to inform their children instead of doing the norm and following the rest, they would have less problems and better leaders to run their country. Recently the United States went to the defense of many countries such as Lybia, to try and bring down their leader; a leader that killed his own people, because he wanted and because he could. Finally understanding that they too could stand up for what they believe in, instead of following the leader, is an outcome of being educated. Understanding the problems they have been facing, and realizing who the real problem is, is also a sign of education.

This world, as a whole will never be completely at peace. Bringing down those leaders that have caused nothing but hurt, humiliation, problems, and hatred is most definitely the correct path to take on creating peace, instead of doing nothing and detracting from it.
